Hello Year 8!
We're gutted that we won't get to read all of this book with you in the classroom - but it's a book that everyone should read, so we're going to guide you through it step-by-step - and from a sensible social distance.
I know that some forms have already started this book (that's 8B, 8N and 8S) and some will be starting from scratch. If you've already started, just browse through the first few tasks as a revision exercise, and then check out this special blogpost for you.
You can do any work in your exercise book - if you have it. If not, you can use any notebook you can lay your hands on, or you could put all of your work onto a word document to keep it all together for when we get back.
This first post will help you understand the context of the novella (a little novel) and will get you started on the first chapters.
Here we go...
Title - Of Mice and Men - Context
Use the document and video clips below (and explore further online if you like) to research and make notes on the following three contextual issues:
- The American Dream
- The Great Depression
- The Dust Bowl
Perhaps you could do a Cornell Notes page for each bullet point?
Watch this mini-documentary on the context of Of Mice and Men:
This doc might help too:
If you've already covered this material in class, you can skip ahead to next week's work.
Stay safe, y'all!
