Here’s are your two lessons for Wednesday:
Period 1: Do this lesson on the concept of ‘The
Uncanny’ in gothic literature.
Period 3: Do this lesson on authorial intent.
Here
are some resources to help you with the tasks on Charles Dickens:
Why
You Should Read Charles Dickens (TED-Ed)
Extension tasks:
You
could have a go at the quizzes I’ve made for the classes finishing Frankenstein:
Chapter 22 (or Vol. 3 Chapter 5)
Chapter 23 (or Vol. 3 Chapter 6)
Chapter 24 (or Vol. 3 Chapter 7) Part 1
Chapter 24 (or Vol. 3 Chapter 7) Part 2
Remember,
if you enjoyed ‘The Tell-Tale Heart’, you can still read some more of Edgar
Allan Poe’s work. His complete works can be found here. I’d recommend his short stories
‘The Black Cat’, ‘The Masque of the Red Death’ and ‘The Fall of the House of
Usher’. Here’s a shorter version of ‘Usher’.
Don't forget to watch this short, creepy animation of 'The Tell-Tale Heart' by Annette Jung, if you haven't already.
That’s it for this week in
English. Next week, it’ll be over to Miss Rogan for the start of the War Poetry
unit.
Please make sure you share a sample of your work with your teacher using the assignment button in Teams. This will also help us to monitor who is engaging with remote learning.
